I have photographed over a thousand people throughout my lifetime and forty years as a professional, almost all of whom were commissioned or assigned portraits. While I knew many of my subjects personally, for most of them we were meeting for the first time – a very challenging situation which included selection of environments and backgrounds, set up and take down of lighting and photographic equipment, and create a story telling portrait that would make the subject feel comfortable, look their best, and enjoy the experience as much as possible.
These portraits of artists were assigned to me over a period of four years for a feature in San Diego Home/Garden Magazine titled “Art and Artists”, which included a short Q&A Interview and an accompanying portrait in their studio.
