Recently I have been working on collages, a refreshing break from painting and photography as a creative outlet. While the medium seems new and different to some observers of my work, it actually harks back to photo collages I was making during the 1980’s. I have taken to heart a quote that I read long ago by singer/songwriter Taj Mahal regarding criticism of a new album he had just released, as being “retro”. His reply was that “A step backwards is not always a step in the wrong direction”!
