Starlight Express Broadway Musical  

In 1987 the editors of San Diego Magazine heard I was making a trip to New York City to visit my significant other, National City High School graduate Barry Bernal who was performing as the character “Red Caboose” in the Broadway musical “Starlight Express”. The magazine wanted to publish a story about him and asked me if I could write the article as well as photograph Barry and I accepted the challenge. They were thrilled with the resulting story – and I was elevated another notch higher with the publication!
